Contractor secures hard fought IR35 victory

The PCG has today announced contractor Elaine Richardson has finally won her mammoth 5 1/2 year battle wiht HMRC over her IR35 status.

Although full details are yet to be released, it is another crushing blow to HMRC in a case that saw a potential IR35 bill in excess of £50,000.

The key points to this victory, where Ms Richardson was represented by Accountax, was that employment characteristics did not apply to her relationship with her client, and she clearly demonstrated that she was in business on her own account.
